Summary

RESULTS OF MEASUREMENTS MADE OVER A FOUR-YEAR PERIOD OF THE OPERATING BEHAVIOUR OF A BIVALENT HEATING INSTALLATION IN A SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE COMPRISING AN AIR-WATER COMPRESSION HEAT PUMP AND A GAS BOILER. DURING THIS PERIOD SYSTEMATIC ALTERATIONS WERE MADE TO THE SYSTEM SUCH AS IMPROVED DEFROSTING CONTROL, DIFFERENT HEATING CURVES, THE INSTALLATION OF SHORT AND LONG-TERM HOT WATER STORAGE AND ADDITIONAL BUILDING THERMAL INSULATION TO REDUCE THE FREQUENCY OF SWITCHING AND INCREASE THE DURATION OF OPERATING PERIODS, THE AMOUNT OF THE HEAT LOAD COVERED BY THE HEAT PUMP AND ITS COEFFICIENT OF PERFORMANCE. DESCRIBES THE INSTALLATION IN GENERAL AND ITS INDIVIDUAL COMPONENTS. EFFECT OF THE INTRODUCTION OF IMPROVED CONTROL AND REGULATION AND THE INSTALLATION OF HOT WATER STORAGE IN THE SECOND HEATING PERIOD. (INT. BUILD. SERV. ABSTR., GB., 20, N.3, 1985, 9, 85-00794.
