AMALGAMATIONS IN THE 1960S AND EARLY 1970S HAVE REDUCED THE NUMBER OF ICE CREAM PRODUCTION PLANTS, IN DENMARK, TO 12. PER CAPITA ICE CREAM CONSUMPTION IS 7.8 LITRES, COMPARED WITH 3.7 LITRES IN 1960 AND 7.2 LITRES IN 1970. SALES OF TAKE-HOME PRODUCTS (FAMILY PACKS AND DESSERT ICE CREAM), WHICH IN 1950 AMOUNTED TO ONLY 3.6 MILLION LITRES, 27% OF TOTAL SALES REACHED 18.5 MILLION LITRES IN 1983, ABOUT 47% OF TOTAL SALES (39.2 MILLION LITRES).
