Type of article: Article

Summary

IN 1963, THE CONSUMPTION OF FROZEN FOODS WAS 3.5 KG PER CAPITA IN DENMARK ; THIS AMOUNT INCREASED TO 23 KG IN 1982, IE BY NEARLY 700% IN 20 YEARS. AT PRESENT, 75% OF HOUSEHOLDS STORE THESE FOODS IN A FREEZER OR IN A DUAL TEMPERATURE REFRIGERATOR. IMPORTS AMOUNTED TO ABOUT 16% OF CONSUMPTION IN 1982 ; EXPORTS HAVE INCREASED TOO FOR A FEW YEARS, BUT THERE ARE NO FIGURES FOR THEM. THIS DEVELOPMENT IS DUE TO THE ACTIVITY OF A < COUNCIL OF DANISH FROZEN FOOD INDUSTRIES > WHICH, IN PARTICULAR, HAS TO CONTROL THE MAINTENANCE AND THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF FROZEN FOODS AND TO GIVE INFORMATION ABOUT THEM AND ON THEIR USE. ITS PURPOSE IS ALSO TO DEVELOP PROFESSIONAL INFORMATION (REGULATIONS, STANDARDS, TECHNOLOGY, STATISTICS). G.G.
