The introduction of the NLX KK.2 compressor range for household appliances with R600a has been made in 2004, which added remarkably to the top of efficiency level just started to be available on the European market. This "UFO" project was launched, targeting an Ultra Fast Optimization based on the brand new range NLX KK with capacity of 111-193 W at EN 12900 household conditions. The UFO compressors delivered in quantities from 2004 squeezed the full efficiency potential out of the companies actual production abilities. The optimization reached new limits on muffler, valve system, friction reduction and motor improvements in a package, which gives the highest efficiency asynchronous motor compressor available on the market, still 2 years after launch. The optimization package and the presumptions made are presented together with the market experience.
