The use of ejectors in industrial heat pumps.

Author(s) : JAVERSCHEK O., MANNEWITZ J., HEGGLIN A.

Summary

The use of ejectors is credited with an enormous increase in system efficiency. This applies in particular to the use of CO2 plants in transcritical operation. But what is the efficiency gain in real operation when the ejector also works as a high-pressure control element? In this empirical work the operation of a CO2 heat pump is evaluated. Measurement data from the field are collected and form the basis for a calculation model. In the following analysis an attempt is made to create a general basis for calculation. Using this calculation basis an assessment of the potential of an industrial heat pump with newly developed compressors and ejectors is carried out and discussed.
