THE PAPER CONCERNS THE COOLING OF A SINGLE-STAGE COMPRESSION PROCESS BY THE INJECTION OF A COOLING LIQUID INTO THE SUCTION GAS. THE WORK WAS CARRIED OUT MAINLY ASSUMING A ROTARY VANE COMPRESSOR, BUT SOME COMPARISONS WERE MADE WITH A PISTON COMPRESSOR. THE COMPRESSED GAS WAS AIR AND THE COOLING LIQUID WATER. THE CONCLUSIONS WERE THAT COMPRESSOR EFFICIENCY COULD BE INCREASED AND ALSO THE PRESSURE RATIO IF SUCH A TWO-PHASE SYSTEM WAS USED. D.W.H.
