Summary

AN ANALYTICAL MODEL IS PROPOSED TO EXAMINE THE TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN THE FROZEN SOIL AROUND A TUNNEL. A CIRCULAR MASS OF FROZEN SOIL WAS BUILT UP AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE TUNNEL SINCE THE STRENGTH OF THE FROZEN SOIL DECREASES BECAUSE OF THE TEMPERATURE RISE CAUSED BY THE REMOVAL OF PIPING USED TO FREEZE THE SOIL. AN EQUATION HAD BEEN DERIVED TO CALCULATE THE TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN THE SOIL.
