Type of article: Article
Summary
The author provides an explanation and an application example, of the European guidelines for building ventilation (CEC 1992), which are based on the Fanger theory and on the concepts of "olf" and "decipol". The air-change rate is dependent on the desired indoor air quality and on the air pollution sources, expressed in terms of "olfs". Basic concepts of thermal comfort are recalled and the Fanger method of evaluating the draft risk (percent of persons uncomfortable because of drafts) is described. E.F.
