THERMAL CONTACTS UNDER TRANSIENT CONDITIONS. COMPARISON OF A PURE RESISTANCE MODEL AND A THREE-WALL MODEL, THERMALLY EQUIVALENT TO ACTUAL CONTACT.

Summary

THE AUTHOR TAKES UP THE MODELLING OF AN ACTUAL CONTACT BY THREE WALLS: THE HETEROGENEOUS CONTACT LAYER IS REPLACEDBY A THERMALLY EQUIVALENT HOMOGENEOUS WALL, OF THE SAME THICKNESS, IN PERFECT CONTACT WITH THE SOLIDS. HE SURVEYS THE MODEL OF PURE CONTACT RESISTANCE UNDER STEADY CONDITIONS AND COMPARES THE THERMAL FIELDS (TEMPERATURES) OBTAINED BY THESE TWO MODELS APPLIED TO TRANSIENT CONDITIONS. HE STUDIES THE LAG AND DAMPING OF THE UNIT STEP AND TRIANGULAR SIGNALS IN BOTH MODELS AND COMPARES THEM TO TEST RESULTS. HE CHECKS THAT THE SIGNAL PASSES THROUGH THE INTERFACE MORE EASILY THAN PREDICTED BY THE MODEL OF PURE RESISTANCE.
