Summary
THE HIGH AIR-CHANGE COEFFICIENTS NECESSARY IN SMALL REFRIGERATED STOWAGE COMPARTMENTS WITH A HIGH SPECIFIC THERMAL LOADING, SUCH AS THOSE IN SHIPS, RAIL WAGONS, AND ROAD VEHICLES, CAN LEAD TO EXCESSIVE DRYING OUT OF BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE GOODS. THE JACKET COOLING SYSTEM PROVIDES A MEANS OF LOWERING THE THERMAL LOADING TO ALLOW AN AIR-CHANGE COEFFICIENT WHICH SHOULD OVERCOME THIS DIFFICULTY. AFTER DESCRIBING SOME DIFFERENT LAYOUTS OF THE JACKET SYSTEM, THE AUTHORS EXPLAIN SOME THEORETICAL CONSIDERATIONS AND PRESENT A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR THE DESIGN CALCULATION OF THE SYSTEM. (J. ABSTR.
