Summary

The newly mixed refrigerant R450A, preferable in environmental protection, is an alternative to R134a. In this study, the basic physical properties of R134a and R450A are compared. The thermal physical properties of R450A are introduced, and the calculation equation is verified by comparing with some experimental data. Based on the ideal refrigeration cycle, volumetric refrigeration capacities, volumetric compressor power consumption, coefficient of performance, exhaust temperature and compressor ratio of R450A and R134a are compared under different condensing temperature and evaporation temperature. The strengths and weaknesses of R450A are studied in the process of replacing R134a. And some enhanced measures in refrigeration cycle are also proposed to improve the practicality of R450A.
