Summary

THE TESTS WERE CONDUCTED ON A WALL HAVING A 110 MM BRICK OUTER LEAF WITH WOODEN STUDDING CARRYING GYPSUM BOARD AS AN INNER LINING AND HAVING REFLECTIVE FOIL LAMINATE ATTACHED TO THE OUTER EDGE OF THE STUDDING. THIS EFFECTIVELY CREATES TWO AIR SPACES, ONE BETWEEN FOIL AND BRICK WHICH MAY BE VENTILATED AND ONE WITHIN THE STUDDING WHICH IS NOT, EXCEPT ACCIDENTALLY. VALUES OF THERMAL RESISTANCE WERE FOUND FOR VARYING AIR SPACE AIR VELOCITIES. A VALUE OF 1.5 M2 K/W IS AVERAGE FOR GOOD CONSTRUCTION AT NORMALLY FOUND CAVITY AIR FLOW SPEED. D.W.H.
