Summary
Thermally-driven thermoacoustic refrigeration (TD-TAR) is a relatively new technology for obtaining a cooling effect. Due to its high reliability and environmental friendliness, this novel refrigeration has drawn much attention worldwide and some significant progresses have been achieved in the past two decades. According to operating temperature ranges, thermally-driven thermoacoustic refrigerators can be divided into two kinds: one is for room-temperature cooling and the other is for cryogenic cooling. Currently, both refrigerators have shown good prospects for practical applications. This paper reports recent progress on TD-TARs.
