Summary
In this article, the mechanisms of these thermoacoustic energy conversions are briefly introduced from the viewpoint of gas parcels with a travelling wave phase executing Stirling thermodynamic cycles through the isothermal heat exchange processes with walls. Therefore, travelling wave prime mover and heat pump essentially can achieve a high efficiency without any moving parts.
