THE PAPER DEALS WITH THE THERMODYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF LNG, OBSERVED IN MOSS SPHERICAL TANKS DURING SEA TRANSPORT. THE FOLLOWING PHENOMENA ARE DESCRIBED: EFFECTS OF SHIP MOTION ON THE EVAPORATION RATE ; PRESSURE RISE IN CLOSED TANKS ; AND PRESSURE RELIEF. A JOINT COOPERATION BETWEEN USERS AND SHIPYARDS HAS MADE IT POSSIBLE TO DEFINE THE MECHANISMS OF THESE PHENOMENA THANKS TO THE THEORETICAL ANALYSIS, TO EXPERIENCE AND TO THE ASSESSMENT OF SEVERAL YEARS OF OPERATION.
