Thermodynamic characteristics of hybrid regenerator for a Stirling refrigerator.

Summary

The paper presents some thermodynamic characteristics shown by PV analysis and experiments on a Stirling refrigerator with a hybrid regenerator made of copper matrices and nylon matrices. The regenerator is one of the important parts influencing performance of the Stirling refrigerator. In small size-Stirling refrigerators with the regenerator in a displacer, it is that efficiency improves when the weight of the regenerator is lightened. The refrigerators are able to reduce a motor input for the regenerator lightened by using the nylon matrices. However, the pressure loss of the nylon matrices is larger than that of the copper matrices. For these reasons, the authors propose the hybrid regenerator made of copper matrices and nylon matrices. The ratio of the copper matrices and nylon matrices and piled-up method of the matrices are important for improving the COP of the refrigerator.
