Summary

Rare earth materials in magnetic refrigerating systems are used in the vicinity of their magnetic phase-transition points. Properties of magnetic refrigerants in these cases are intimately nonlinear that results in form distortion of Stirling, Brayton, Ericson, etc. regenerative thermodynamic cycles. The analysis of those thermodynamic cycles at temperatures below, above and around phase-transition points enabled to specify the selection criteria for refrigerants and the thermodynamic cycles subject to losses and regenerator load. The QpT-Plots for rare-earth materials enable simplification of the correct determination of temperature limits in regenerative thermodynamic cycles, particularly in local cycles of active magnetic regenerator. Theoretical investigations applying the method of distributed parameters have demonstrated possible running of any local cycle in active magnetic regenerators.
