Summary

In this study, a thermodynamic model of a refrigerating machine working with the methylamine-water mixture was elaborated to determine its performance. This model is based on the conservation laws of mass and energy applied at the level of every element of the machine and constituted a very big system of non-linear equations. Some of these equations are intended for the prediction of the thermodynamics and thermophysical properties of the ternary mixture methylamine water helium. In this work, a comparison is made between the experimental data of the methylamine water mixture and those supplied by Wilson's activity model that this the most suited model to describe the thermodynamic properties of this mixture. It is this model which was used in the established system of equations. The numerical resolution achieved with the software EES (equation engineering solver) allowed us to show the feasibility of this machine.
