Summary

For last few decades, ammoniated salts based gas–solid sorption systems are given more attention due to high reaction heat, large adsorption capacity and availability of numerous halide salts which provide extensive range of working temperatures [1]. Several advanced sorption systems have been proposed to resolve the problem of low coefficient of performance of gas–solid sorption system based on basic adsorption or resorption cycle [2]. In this work, such as an attempt has been made by combining adsorption and resorption processes to propose a multi-effect system. In the proposed system, cooling effect is produced by the evaporation of NH3 which is adsorbed by MnCl2, while heating effect is obtained in the resorption process using MnCl2 and CaCl2. A suitable configuration among MnCl2, CaCl2 and ammonia condenser/evaporator has been proposed to achieve simultaneous cooling and heating effects.
