Summary

THREE-DIMENSIONAL FABRIC-REINFORCED PLASTICS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AS INSULATING AND/OR STRUCTURAL MATERIALS IN SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS. THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES SUCH AS YOUNG'S MODULUS, POISSON'S RATIO, TENSILE STRENGTH AND THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH DOWN TO LIQUID HELIUM TEMPERATURE WERE MEASURED. THERMAL CONTRACTION WAS ALSO MEASURED.
