Summary
Processes such as iron and steel, petrochemicals, petroleum refining, gasification, power generation are all amongst the large scale users of oxygen, some installations consuming well over 1500-2500 metric ton per day. Each has a requirement for specific supply: pressure, purity, impurity levels as well as co-product requirements. The effect of these on the choice of tonnage oxygen plant cycle configuration, equipment and products, as well as co-products, is reviewed in the paper. A brief review of tonnage plant cycles and co-product arrangements is included and the potential for process integration is mentioned.
