Transient flow of the lubricant oil through the radial clearance in rolling piston compressors.

Summary

The purpose of the work is to present a model to calculate the transient flow of the lubricant oil through the radial clearance of rolling piston compressors. The useful parameters are obtained by modeling the compression process of the refrigerant gas and the rolling piston dynamics. The influence of both the dimension of the radial clearance and the oil temperature on the oil mass flow rate is investigated. Furthermore, the mass loss of the refrigerant gas due to the lubricant oil flow is calculated, showing that it can exceed 30% of the total mass of the refrigerant gas being compressed.
