Transient simulation of an air-source heat pump during the reverse cycle defrost.

Summary

Transient simulation of reverse cycle defrost is a challenge and a necessary part for the simulation of heat pump. A defrost model that bases on the fundamental conservation equations and experimental results is presented. The distributed model is used for the details of evaporator and condenser that are important components during the reverse cycle defrost. A test was set up for validation of the model. The good agreement between simulations and experimental results shows that the dynamic defrost model can be used in the research of the heat pump especially on the reverse cycle defrost.
