Summary

The maldistribution of two-phase flow in parallel heat exchangers will deteriorate the thermal performanceof exchangers. In this paper, the maldistributionof two-phase flowin parallel exchangers was deduced based on conservation equations, demonstrating that the maldistribution is inevitable.Various distribution patterns of two-phase flow were obtained under a balanced state.Next, the effect of flow maldistribution on the performance of heat exchangers was analysed. The result indicates that flow maldistribution will reduce the total heat transfer ability of exchangers, meaningthat the more nonuniform the flow is distributed, themore the ability is reduced.
