A CRYOSTAT FOR MEASUREMENTS OF THE EFFECTIVE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF MULTILAYER INSULATIONS IN CONDITIONS SIMILAR TO THOSE IN NORMAL CRYOGENIC LIQUID CONTAINERS HAS BEEN CONSTRUCTED. RESULTS FOR TWO MULTILAYER INSULATIONS ARE PRESENTED.
