Unique design considerations for large evaporative ammonia condenser installations.

Author(s) : WELCH J., WRIGHT J.

Summary

Many ammonia systems around the world have grown in excess of 35 MW (10 000 tonnes). The design of newer, larger condensers and the evaporative condenser field in these large installations requires additional design considerations. This paper provides insight to the placement and piping of the condensers with special emphasis on the issues that arise with high capacity condensers, large installations, or poorly executed expansions.
