Summary
The development of the Urban Underground Thermal Energy Storage (UTES) system, which started in fiscal year 1991, has completed its 7 year development programs including demonstration testing. A demonstration plan was operated for two years under an actual HVAC load for the control office building of a sewage treatment plant in Saitama Prefecture. The demonstration plant mainly consists of a demonstration tank reaching 100 m under the ground and a heat pump system.
