Use of joint-frequency weather data to determine the primary energy consumption of desiccant systems.

Summary

Using weather data in a joint-frequency bin format, the source energy consumption of a desiccant system and a desiccant system utilizing an enthalpy wheel with and without ventilation air bypass were investigated. The results show the advantages of using an enthalpy wheel as a preconditioning device in conjunction with a desiccant system and the necessity of adding a bypass loop to a desiccant system in order to provide ventilation air under space neutral conditions.
