Summary

A DECREASE IN THE NIGHT ENVIRONMENT TEMPERATURE OF THE PLANT IS OBTAINED WITH A UNIT PRODUCING REFRIGERATION WITH AN INTERMITTENT CYCLE OF SOLID ADSORPTION, COMPLETELY DRIVEN BY SOLAR ENERGY. REFRIGERATION IS DISTRIBUTED BY CYLINDRICAL EVAPORATORS OF THE IRRIGATION TYPE. THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE DECREASE IS ABOUT 7 K. THE SIMPLICITY OF THE SYSTEM, ITS HIGH RELIABILITY AND ITS AUTONOMOUS OPERATION MAKE IT SUITABLE FOR USE IN RURAL AREAS. THE RELATIVELY HIGH INVESTMENT COSTS LIMIT ITS USE TO HIGHLY PROFITABLE CULTURES.
