Using environmentally friendly natural or synthetic refrigerants for ice rink plants.

Author(s) : HERA D., DRUGHEAN L.

Summary

Recently, a team from the Bucharest University of Constructions has been involved in the design of several artificial skate-rinks in Romania. Ecological solutions (indirect vaporization, environmental-friendly cooling fluids, natural-ammonia, or synthesis: R-407C) have been used, while targeting low consumption operation of the skate-rinks. The data collected from the operation of the rinks constructed in the first years (2001 indoor skate-rink in Miercurea Ciuc, 2002 outdoor skate-rink in Poiana Brasov) have allowed for later introduction of even better design solutions and eventual operation of the new skate-rinks (2003 indoor skate-rink in Galati, 2004 outdoor skate-rink in Constanta, and 2007 indoor skate-rink in Iasi). This paper details two of the above-mentioned constructions.
