Summary

DESCRIBES EXPERIENCE IN THE USSR WITH IMPROVING THE THERMAL DESIGN OF THE ENVELOPE STRUCTURES OF PREFABRICATED BUILDINGS FOR MASS-CONSTRUCTION. MULTILAYER ENVELOPES ARE INCREASINGLY USED, CHARACTERISED BY NON-HOMOGENEITY OF THE MATERIALS IN CROSS-SECTION, AND COMPLEX BUTT-JOINTS FOR WHICH METHODS OF COMPUTER CALCULATION OF TEMPERATURE FIELDS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED. SETS OUT METHODS FOR ESTIMATING TWO AND THREE-DIMENSIONAL TASKS OF HEAT CONDUCTION, MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO OBTAIN TEMPERATURE FIELDS OF THE ENVELOPE SURFACES, HEAT FLOW DISTRIBUTIONS AND ON THAT BASIS TO CALCULATE THE TOTAL THERMAL RESISTANCE OF THE ENVELOPE. NOTES SIMPLIFIED DESIGN METHODS WHICH HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AND GIVES ANALYTICAL EXPRESSIONS OF THE THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS OF BUILDING ENVELOPES WITH THE COMMONEST THERMAL BRIDGES. (INT. BUILD. SERV.
