Summary

THE HEAT LIBERATED FROM THE ENGINE COOLING WATER OR EXHAUST OF A GAS ENGINE DRIVING A SCREW COMPRESSOR CAN BE ADVANTAGEOUSLY UTILIZED IN SLAUGHTERHOUSE COOLING APPLICATIONS. HIGHLY ECONOMICAL EQUIPMENT CAN BE MANUFACTURED IF THE HEATING AND COOLING CAPACITIES CAN BE BALANCED, AS THIS WILL PROVIDE SAVINGS IN ENERGY AND FUEL CONSUMPTION. THE MAJOR DISADVANTAGE, HOWEVER, IS THE HIGH COST OF THE COMPRESSOR AND THE GAS FOR THE ENGINE. CALCULATIONS HAVE BEEN MADE TO ESTABLISH SAVINGS IN ENERGY.
