Summary

Nine types of polyethylene films for modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) from 3 suppliers were evaluated for O2, CO2, and H2O vapour transmission rates at 4 temperatures. These transmission rates were measured and compared, to assess the regularity of the properties of the different films. Ratios between O2 and CO2, H2O and O2 permeance were also investigated. Increase in temperature affected mainly O2 permeance.
