Summary

Conversion of older R12 plants with a single oil change is possible with the partly soluble oils discussed in the paper. However, performance was lower when compared with conventional oils like POE and PAG. This could be mitigated through use of an oil separator. A comparison of various viscosities with the same oil types and same refrigerants revealed only minor performance losses.
