Volume ratio of screw compressors.

Type of article: Article
Summary
Variable volume ratio realized with a movable slide stop gives at the full capacity of the compressors minimal energy savings (about 1.0%). At a reduced capacity, the energy losses which occur cancel the savings. Furthermore, this system is complicated and needs very precise control by means of a microprocessor. A self-regulating variable ratio system which has been included in some new machines changes the ratio gradually without an external control. This system is very simple and practical.
