Summary

THIS PAPER PRESENTS THE ENERGY SAVING EFFECTS OF THE COMPRESSOR CAPACITY MODULATION OF AN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM EQUIPPED WITH A SCREW TYPE COMPRESSOR, USING A NEWLY PROPOSED EVALUATION METHOD OF SEASONAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION. CONVENTIONAL EVALUATION METHODS HAVE BEEN BASED ON TOTAL AIR CONDITIONING LOADS, WHICH COULD NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE INFLUENCE OF CHANGES IN THE INDOOR HUMIDITY. COMPRESSOR CAPACITY MODULATION GAVE 21 PERCENT ENERGY SAVING EFFECT, AS COMPARED WITH THE CONSTANT CAPACITY COMPRESSOR, HENCE THE NEW METHOD CAN EFFECTIVELY EVALUATE THE INFLUENCE OF CHANGES IN INDOOR HUMIDITY ON THE ENERGY SAVING CALCULATION.
