Summary

The water consumed in air-conditioning facilities is most utilized as open recirculating cooling water for the refrigerator units. When water is recirculated as cooling water, the following 4 major problems are anticipated: 1) corrosion problem; 2) scaling problem; 3) slime problem; 4) Legionnaire's disease. As to the impact of these problems, operational problems such as water leakage, accidental refrigerator operation stoppage caused by heat exchange efficiency drop and energy loss, can occur. This article describes the problems in detail along with their cause and countermeasures for refrigerator cooling water systems.
