Summary

German production of frozen food increased from 521,000 to 1,820,000 tons between 1980 and 1990, but it is in the lower half of European countries by per capita consumption. Ready meals is one of the most competitive areas, bakery products and pizza are growing rapidly, but potato products account for the highest turnover. Fish, seafood and meat products all showed consistent growth. Details are given of some German food manufacturing companies and their product ranges. G.R.S.
