Summary

THE POSSIBILITY OF USINGALLOYS OF HEAVY RARE EARTH METALS BASED ON GADOLINIUM FOR MAGNETIC REFRIGERATION IN THE ROOM TEMPERATURE RANGE IS THEORETICALLY INVESTIGATED IN THE PAP THE APPROPRIATE CALCULATIONS ARE CARRIED OUT USING THE MOLECULAR FIELD APPROXIMATION. IT IS SHOWN THAT THE USE OF REFRIGERANTS COMPOSED OF 2 RARE EARTH ALLOYS PRODUCES A GAIN IN THE MAGNETIC ENTROPY CHANGE COMPARED TO REFRIGERANTS COMPOSED OF ONE ALLOY. SUBSEQUENT INCREASES IN THE NUMBER OF ALLOYS IN THE REFRIGERANT DONOT RESULT IN A NOTICEABLE INCREASE IN THE MAGNETIC ENTROPY CHANGE.
