The paper, titled “Evaluation of potential use of R1132A as a refrigerant blend component”, was written by Robert Low of Mexichem (now Koura), a collective member of the IIR. Historically, refrigeration applications requiring evaporation at temperatures ranging from -50°C to -100°C have used non-flammable fluids with very high GWP, such as R23 and R508A/B. The paper explores R1132A as a potential blend component, offering promising results. Thermodynamic property analysis, performance testing, and stability testing have been conducted, with initial results indicating that R-1132A could be an excellent candidate for future refrigerant mixtures.
