From January to April 2014, air-to-air heat pumps showed signs of very slight growth (2 to 4 %) whereas air-to-water heat pump sales grew by 23 %.
In comparison with the equivalent period in 2013, figures for equipment during the 2014 period show little increase for large units (iced-water units +2 %) and significant increase for direct expansion systems (variable refrigerant volume (VRV) +10 % ).

According to the French Heat-Pump Association (AFPAC) "it is likely that around 68,000 air-to-water heat pumps were sold in 2014, 60,000 of which are split-type systems."
