Czech Republic heat pump market situation
Total sales reached 7 804 units in 2014 – an increase of 4% compared to 2013.
The Czech heat pump market 2014 was characterised by a slight increase in sales (+4%). The dominant product were air/water heat pumps, their sales rose by 34%. On the other hand sales of ground source heat pumps declined by 34%. The strongest positive market driver was the subsidy scheme called „Nová zelená úsporám 2014“ and subsidy programmes for the public sector. Increasing competition lead to a decline in the sales prices.
Among the air/water heat pumps those with an outside installation and split systems are in the majority. The sales of ground source heat pumps struggle due to higher initial costs as well as the demanding installation compared other solutions.
In 2014 there was a drop in the number of new buildings constructed. However, the proportion of heat pumps for heating in these new buildings increased by 13%. This is a long term trend and a continuous growth can be expected.
A slight sales growth can be anticipated. It will be supported by the support scheme ”Nová Zelená úsporám“ which has been announced in April 2015 as well as by the planned subsidy scheme ”Kotlíkové dotace“ starting in autumn 2015. The future trend should be influenced also by the recovery of the construction sector.
