Student Networking at ICR 2023: An afternoon dedicated to young people!

The programme began with two award ceremonies: 

 

IIR Young Researchers’ Awards: Seven prizes were awarded to talented young researchers in recognition of their outstanding and innovative research in the field of refrigeration. The winners had already been announced last May: https://iifiir.org/en/news/winners-announced-iir-young-researchers-awards-2023. The prizes were given by Gérald Cavalier. 

 

Best Student Paper Competition: a jury evaluated scientific papers written by undergraduate and graduate students, or fresh graduates. 1st place was awarded to Zhao Shao, from China; 2nd place to Allannah Duffy, from Ireland; and 3rd place to Hyung Won Choi, from South Korea. The prizes were handed over by Catarina Marques, chairperson of the IIR Working Group on Careers in Refrigeration “CaRe”.  

 

After the award ceremonies, it was time for the Student Networking event. Students and early-career researchers from various academic backgrounds came together to exchange ideas, share their passion for research, and discuss career opportunities with senior experts and professionals. This was an exceptional occasion to make lasting connections and initiate potential collaborations. The event was a great success, with approximately 60 students and 20 experts attending.
