The Central African Republic joins global effort against climate change as 168th country to ratify the Kigali Amendment
This October, the Central African Republic ratified the Kigali Amendment which will enter into force in January 2026.
On October 15, 2025, the Central African Republic ratified the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. The Amendment shall enter into force for the Central African Republic on 13 January 2026.
As a party to Group 1 of Article 5 of the Kigali Amendment, the Central African Republic is required to freeze HFC production starting on 2024 and reduce its HFC consumption by 80% by 2045, compared to its average HFC consumption from 2020 to 2022. The Central African Republic is also required to reduce its HCFC consumption by 65% compared to its baseline average consumption in 2009 and 2010.
