The IIR’s ICCC 2024 conference ended successfully!
Successful Conclusion of the 8th International Institute of Refrigeration Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain.
The IIR is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the 8th International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain 2024 held in Tokyo from 9-11 June 2024. The conference, organised locally by the Japanese Society of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (JSRAE), brought together a diverse group of participants including scientists, industrial experts, and students from all fields of refrigeration.
The event focused on promoting and advancing sustainability within the cold chain industry. Various topics were discussed, including innovative technologies in food science and engineering, the importance of cold chains in food quality and safety, predictive tools and strategies for energy efficient application and much more. With 150 registered participants, the conference featured a robust agenda including 91 communication papers, three keynote speakers, one insightful workshop on emissions in the refrigeration sector, and four technical tours.
A highlight of the event was the participation of the EU ENOUGH project. Project partners from Sintef Ocean, London South Bank University, University of Birmingham and the IIR were present to promote the project’s outcomes in 9 conference papers and 1 key note, emphasising the project's role in advancing sustainability within the refrigeration industry.
The conference also offered numerous networking opportunities, allowing participants to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and collaborate on future projects. The diverse range of communication papers presented covered a wide spectrum of topics, from cutting-edge research to practical applications in the industry.
Overall, the 8th IIR Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain was a resounding success, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices in refrigeration and paving the way for future advancements in the field.
