Job Summary

The Communications Assistant will support the implementation of the IIR’s communications strategy across all digital channels, events and institutional outreach. Working with the Communication and Marketing Officer, you will contribute to the planning, creation and delivery of communication activities and materials, including newsletters, mailing campaigns, updating our website, media monitoring and rolling out our new brand.

The Communications Assistant also has a key role to play in managing our social media presence, maintaining communication calendars and contact databases, and ensuring consistent, accurate, and timely dissemination of content that strengthens the IIR’s external image.

Key Responsibilities:
Communication Suppport

Help to implement the communications strategy

Assist with developing and running communication plans

Mailing campaigns
-
Social media campaigns
-
Assist with rolling out the new IIR brand (ordering goodies, coordinating events, preparing communication materials...)

Manage the creation and distribution of the IIR’s newsletter – gathering content, building and sending it via Mailchimp
-
Update the IIR website with news articles relating to institutional communications
-
Maintain and update our contacts database via our CRM, email and Mailchimp
-
Track our media exposure (daily press monitoring) and analyse the results
-
Maintain the communications calendar in sync with other departments
-
Assist the communications and marketing manager with the management of our external image
-
Draft, proofread and edit communications copy and materials
Social Media Management

Create and schedule content across social media platforms in line with our strategy
-
Improve and enhance our presence via community management
-
Drive traffic to our website by crafting content and CTAs
-
Track our social media presence and analyse the results
-
Create visual materials for social media using our brand assets and with the guidance of our brand designer
Event Assistance

Update the IIR website with the latest information relating to our conferences and events
-
Maintain and update our events calendars with incoming requests
-
Create and send mailing campaigns regarding our conferences and events (sponsorship, registration, etc.)

Assist with developing and running event communication plans alongside our conference organisers (mainly on social media - LinkedIn)

Provide logistical and administrative support for virtual and in-person conferences and events
-
Support marketing activities relating to membership development (creating flyers, preparing event materials, etc.)
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s in Communications
Experience
- Minimum two years’ experience in a communications, events, journalism or marketing role preferred (including traineeships/internships).
- Experience working in a multicultural environment or international organisation is advantageous.
Skills
- Native French (preferred) or native English, excellent professional working skills in the non-native language.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy.
- Fluent in digital communication tools (Zoom, Canva, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, SurveyMonkey, Shutterstock, UTM builder, Bitly, Mention).
- Computer literacy and excellent use of MS Office applications.
- Familiar with Adobe Creative Suite.

Working location + salary expectations
- 3 days per week in our Paris office with occasional remote working.
- Annual salary – 20K€. (2-year fixed-term contract)
