Résumé

The refrigeration engineer is confronted with a number of problems when designing an active chiller refrigeration system. An active chiller refrigeration system and the control of the refrigeration effect during the chilling cycle aim at finding an optimum solution to the following refrigeration, operational and product quality issues. The issues of weight loss and condensation are considered in detail in this paper. Some of the above requirements are, by the very nature of the highly dynamic refrigeration process occurring during the chilling cycle, in conflict with each other and therefore a compromise is necessary. This paper deals with the interaction between the various requirements and provides guidelines and recommendations on how to optimise chiller performance in a given situation as well as guidelines and parameters for new active chiller design.
