Effects of 13-year soil fertilization on storage quality of "Cortland" apples.

Résumé

The effects of 13 years of soil fertilization were studied over a period of four years. In the experiment, trees, soil and apple fruit from 9 treatments with different doses of N, P, K and Mg were compared. The following attributes were evaluated; chemical and biological properties of soil and plants, and quality and yield of fruit. Fruit after harvest were stored in air at 2 °C for 5 months. After thirteen years of fertilization, no significant differences in growth, flowering, fruit set were found. However, there was significant effect on quality of fruit, and an incidence of diseases and physiological disorders.
