Summary
The principle of cogeneration is explained and prospects for use of this technology as back-up or as replacement technology in old plants are examined. The aim is to save energy and therefore reduce CO2 emissions. Current UK projects are described. The need to adapt the United Kingdom's energy policy is explained. Several European countries are used as examples.
