Summary

At the General Infirmary in Leeds, an additional plant was required to meet the increasing energy demands and at the same time also supplying the energy needs of the adjacent University of Leeds site. The project has been carried out as a partnership between the public and private sectors under the requirements of the private finance initiative. The private sector has funded the new plant, and is now contracted to operate both the new and existing plant for 20 years. Details of the procurement route and key features of the contract are given.
